It’s funny how things work out. Like countless others I’d seen The Maybes? Sprayed on walls across the city in marketing plan that put Infinity Damp Proofing to shame (ask yer dad). Then gradually taking in a few gigs an realising that they fit right into “my type of band” just a gang of lads taking it serious enough to be good, an outlook that is just bang on, chilled enough to be VERY good at making it look easy and above all, playing stuff that sets them apart.

I was at The Williamsons Tunnels gig a few weeks ago and bumped into Nick Ellis. We both realised very quickly that enthusiasm is infectious and what has become a kind of Originals guide to life “good people attract good people” kicked in double quick. I asked Nick jokingly when they would be gracing The Brick with their presence. Two days later they came and did a gig that will go down as one of those ‘you had to be there” nights. We didn’t have to badger or persuade there was a mutual feeling of respect (and the love of good music) from the off. The respect and oneness with their audience is very much to the fore The Maybes? really do let you know they are doing this gig just for you.
We welcome them back today and expect nothing short of 100% commitment.

The last time the lads played we intended oit to be the launch of this website, we got it spectacularly wrong but have since heard that we can get away with it if we say that was the “soft launch” today is the hardcore, gloves off, let’s have it PROPER LAUNCH !

We will be promoting The Maybes? and other local acts via our site as much as we can in the future. Please feel free to suggest other bands, ask them to ask us. We are great believers in fate and I’m sure that whoever is meant to cross our paths will do, I’m sure we will all be all the better for it.

Anyway, The Maybes? we encourage you to have a listen and at least know that this is a band who all know the score, all know that achieving doesn’t always mean you have to forsake integrity. With a fantastic Chrimbo show at The Masque and a new album in the new year its an honour to be associated with this mob, not least because I can stand next to Nick and know I haven’t got the worst fringe in the alehouse !

We have jokingly told the lads that “THE PROMISE” now belongs to The Brick. They are not giving it away that easily. I’m sure we will convince them just that little bit more at tonight’s gig.

The Maybes? will be on stage at 6.30pm.

We know it’s early but there are a load of reasons behind us experimenting with times.

I mean who would have thought that yer ma, yer nan and all yer aunties would all end up in town watching Cy Tucker on a Sunday afternoon instead of being in the house sorting out the roast ?

Heres a sample of The Maybes?

12 Promise
